Pentecost Sunday
| Words of Jesus to His disciples from John 14: “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.” (vs 15-17a) “..when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.” (vs 26) |
Pentecost is about the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on Jesus’ disciples. It happened in a wonderfully powerful and dramatic fashion. That event caused many people to believe in Jesus and change their lives. It was also the birth of the Christian church, the community of believers.
As we remember and celebrate, we also realize that the church is not a building, but the actual community of believers that meets together, prays together, cares together, encourages together, loves together. And that can happen in many different ways. We are thankful that we have so many ways we can be ‘together’ in this time.
One of those ways is our Sunday services. While we cannot be together in the physical sense, we can worship together via our prepared YouTube service and playlist. We pray that the words of the songs and the scripture and the message touch you where you are right now.
